FYI: A line of windmills exists to the south at the top of the mountain and that line is expected to be extended further north, but will be over 4,000' away, over the mountain. Groceries, general shopping (Walmart) and Potomac Valley Hospital (new) are available in Keyser, 12-14 miles outside The Preserve security gate and Cumberland MD (also with a new, much larger hospital) is 20-miles beyond that. For access from the DC area, the Rt 93 exit from Corridor H (Rt 48) is just 7-minutes from The Preserve entry gate. Warm-water Mt Storm Lake is a 15-minute drive from The Preserve and offers swimming, SCUBA diving and boating. 15-minutes beyond that (30-min from The Preserve), you'll find lots to do in the artsy-recreational twin towns of Davis and Thomas for snow skiing, sledding, biking, hiking, coffee shops, live music, fun eateries, plus Blackwater Falls and Canaan Valley State Parks.
